Dr. Sarath Somasiri Gunawardhana, is a world-renowned Ayurveda physician in Sri Lanka.He graduated from the University of Ceylon in 1973 and has since gained over 40 years of experience in the practice of Ayurveda on the island. He first began his practice in 1976 as a registered Ayurveda physician. Dr. Gunawardhana has developed special treatment methods for several diseases, based on the principles of classical Ayurveda and traditional Sri Lankan herbal medicines. He specialises in cardio-vascular diseases, female and male infertility, arthritis, diabetes, and neurological disorders. A specialist in pulse diagnosis with over 40 years’ experience, Dr. S.S Gunawardhana is skilled at diagnosing patients through wrist pulse. He can read the pulse of patients suffering with cardiac diseases, and accurately point out where the blockage is. He can also assess the patient’s blood pressure level, sugar level and cholesterol level through pulse diagnosis. He continues to succeed in his career as a medical professional. In 2017, he received the ‘Vidyanidi’ presidential award in recognition of his services to the medical profession.
